At Pine we practice NoGi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also known as Submission Grappling. That means that the traditional Judo Gi or Kimono is not used, and we practice in modern atletic wear.
- Wear rash-guards or dry-fit t-shirts
- No buttons, zippers, or hard objects
- No shirtless training; sleeveless discouraged
- Avoid loose or pure cotton clothing
- Women: Sports bras recommended under top layer
- Minimum two layers required
- Preferred: BJJ/MMA shorts or thick leggings
- Gi pants allowed but less popular
- Underwear: Compression shorts recommended
- Remove all jewelry before training
- Exceptions only with coach approval
- Mouthguards: Recommended, not required
- Soft cups: Optional, must be soft material
- Knee braces: Common, discuss metal hinges with coach
